Coming Together After Hurricane Melissa

When Hurricane Melissa swept through Jamaica, it didn’t just damage buildings — it disrupted daily life, access to food, and the sense of security families had built for decades. In the rural hills of St. James Parish, elders and families were cut off from resources and immediate aid.

In response, Rebuild Joy launched a rapid-response effort to meet urgent needs while long-term rebuilding plans are underway.

A night of action: rapid-response packing event

We are organizing an evening of packing water, canned goods, and non-perishable items to send directly to affected rural communities.

Rapid Response Event
Date: November 4, 2025

At this event, volunteers and partners will pack relief barrels with:

  • bottled water

  • canned goods

  • dry food items

  • hygiene essentials

These supplies will support elders and families still struggling to access basic resources after the storm.

We are still accepting donations

Donations of:

  • water

  • canned food

  • non-perishables

  • hygiene products

are welcomed and deeply appreciated. Every single item contributes to immediate survival and comfort.

Thank you to our partners

This effort is made possible through the generosity of our supporters, including:

  • Arms of Hope Community

  • Greenhouse Creative Collective

We also extend heartfelt thanks to every donor and volunteer who has contributed time, resources, and love.

Rapid response is only the beginning. Rebuild Joy is committed to standing beside these communities as they move from crisis to recovery.
